No pain – no gain
There is a good old English proverb, “Nothing stake, nothing draw…” If you are one of those people who admire and envy celebrities, be it Hollywood actors, Broadway stars, Olympian athletes, or NFL and MLB players, you are in the majority. They, however, are in the glamorous minority. What makes them so attractive and successful? How come, if everybody is born into the same word, some succeed...

Reward yourself!
When you train a dog to perform tricks, you reward it with treats when it complies. When you potty-train your toddler, you reward him or her with M&Ms or stickers if he or she uses it. When you do something outstanding, you are given an award. So, is it really that unusual to use rewards for a job well-done?
Rewarding yourself for minor achievements might be viewed by many as equal to being spoiled,...

Making choices is not that scary!..
In the first several years after you are born all the decisions in your life are more or less made by others – the authority figures, such as your parents or other caregivers. In the toddler years, you start striving for independence, the manifestation of which comes through in the desire to make choices for yourself: what to wear, what to eat (or NOT to eat), when to go potty, etc. And even...

Ready for revenge?
“Thou shalt forgive,” wisely advises one of the most quoted books of all times – the Bible. However, sometimes it is definitely easier to give that advice than to take it. Yes, in an ideal world people would all reconcile each other’s differences and forgive each other and there would be no bitter feelings, feuds, or wars. However, we do not live in the ideal world, so sometimes we find...
“Do you mind if I smoke?”
YES! I certainly do!
I was sitting at a bar, watching the NCAA quarter finals and eating the other night and the ‘gentleman’ that sat down next to me immediately lit a cigarette as soon as he sat down at the bar, even though he could see that I was eating. WOW!!! Now that is rude. Had he asked me if I happened to mind if he smoked, I would have certainly said….”yes, I do.”...

Keeping the faith
Life has its ups and downs; it is just the way it goes. You have probably had moments when you feel like you’re soaring on top of the world, and then there were also moments when you felt like you have fallen deep down in the life’s most frightening pit? Trust me, you are not an exception – yours is an absolutely normal life. Truly understanding that this is the rule of life rather than its...

For argument’s sake!..
Communication is what helped the human species to evolve into what we are today. Language is the most powerful tool we have that differentiates us from other living creatures on this Earth. So, if we are blessed with the gift of language, we need to utilize it with the maximally beneficial outcome.
Every relationship has its ups and downs. Since no two people are identical, it is only natural that...

Innocent flirting?
Most women are natural flirts. Even though today’s society is more egalitarian than it has ever been, historically women were considered men’s continuation, or even property. History cannot be forgotten, so it is still pretty common, even in such freedom-cherishing country like the United States, for women to be socially conditioned in a similar vein.
Think about how differently little girls...

Tell Him!
Being in love and being loved in return is one of the most exhilarating experiences in life. But what if you are in love, yet you are not sure the object of your adoration feels the same way? This possibility of rejection is very intimidating, and this fear often keeps you from revealing your true feelings. After all, having the beloved person in your life as a good friend is better than not having...
